How It Works

The TEP technology works because of basic differences in the surface charging properties of fine-sized particles that have different bulk chemical or physical compositions. During transport of a powder to an electric field cell, the technology establishes a bipolar charge distribution on the surface of the particles. Those particles with positive surface charge deflect toward a negative electrode, whereas those with negative surface charge deflect toward a positive electrode. This deflection, along with control of other operational conditions, forces components within the physical mixture to selectively report to particle collection devices.
